Chapter 12b
Dental Miscue - Part 2
In the light of
Part 1, the following extracts are of particular
interest.
Extracts from the book
Racketeering In Medicine, pp.62-63
By Dr James P. Carter, M.D.; Dr. P.H.
"Autopsy studies have shown a
positive correlation between the number of occlusal surfaces (where teeth fit
together) of dental amalgam
and mercury levels in the brain and kidney cortex. Research has also shown
mercury dental amalgam to have an adverse effect on the T-lymphocyte count (a
vital component of the immune system). With the concern about the immune system
diseases of today [SARS, AIDS, SWINE FLU], does it make sense using a dental amalgam
material that may have a drastic effect on one's defense system?
`Multiple Sclerosis patients have
been found to have eight times higher levels of mercury in the cerebral spinal
fluid compared to neurologically healthy controls. Inorganic mercury is capable
of producing symptoms which are indistinguishable from those of multiple
sclerosis. Is it possible that the mouths of some 80% of Americans with amalgam
fillings are toxic waste dumps?`

`Dentistry's
highly profitable "root canal" method is, and always has been, an oral cesspool
of bacteria of the worst kind - the kind that can, will, and does,
literally, stop the human heart from beating.' (Dr
Edward F. Group III) |

Dentists have the highest
suicide and divorce rate of all professionals. Neuro-psychological dysfunction
was present in 90% of dentists tested by Joel Butler, Ph.D., a professor of
psychology at the University of North Texas.
`Another alarm: Female dental
hygienists have a higher spontaneous abortion rate, an increased incidence of
premature labor, and an elevated perinatal mortality. The neonatal blood of
these women who were exposed to mercury while working in dental offices was
found to contain significantly higher mercury levels than in control women with
no occupational exposure to mercury.
`Another concern: Why do
dentists, according to the insurance industry, have one of the highest
utilization rates of medical insurance? Dr. Magnus Nylander published a report
in The Lancet describing an increased uptake of mercury in the pituitary glands
of dentists.
`Just because over 100 million
people have mercury fillings in their mouths [what a tragedy?], we must not assume that this is
medically safe. A report which appeared in a Swedish newspaper in May 1987,
stated "The Swedish Health Board declares amalgam toxic and unsuitable as a
dental filling material." ' [The latter-mentioned report was later challenged in
public hearings and was upheld.]
Extract From The Book
Toxic Metal Syndrome
by Dr. H. Richard Casdorph & Dr. Morton Walker, Page 147
`In 1979, dental researchers at
the University of Iowa, using the sensitive new measurement techniques, found
that chewing does release tiny amounts of mercury vapor from fillings. This
finding ran counter to the prevailing belief that no vapor escapes once amalgam
has hardened. When scientists took a closer look, they discovered that people
with amalgam fillings had more mercury in their blood and urine than did those
without. The fluid levels correlate with the size and number of fillings, too.
Autopsy studies showed, as well, that there is more mercury in the brain tissue
of corpses with amalgams. These are clear indications that mercury liberated
from fillings finds its way into body tissues. It brings about toxic effects in
the brain and nervous system.'

Proceed To Chapter 13:
In chapter 13 we will be looking at what we consider to be yet another medical
tragedy - this time in the field of psychiatry.
